Tyler Waldrep, Personal Banker | SouthStar Bank Hearne Tyler Waldrep is a Personal Banker for SouthStar Bank. She has been a part of the SouthStar Bank team in Hearne for the last three years. Throughout her time in the industry, Tyler’s favorite part has been getting to talk with her customers and build relationships with them. Away from work, the most important thing to Tyler is spending time with her family. She has four children that keep her very busy.
The planned acquisition by SouthStar Bank will expand its Central Texas footprint; the proposed sale meets strategic initiatives for both community-focused institutions. June 23, 2021─Moulton, TX─ SouthStar Bank announced an agreement to purchase the Community First National Bank Branch in Kerrville, TX. The sale is contingent on regulatory approval by the Texas Department of Savings and Mortgage Lending (TDSML), the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). Pending final approval, the sale is scheduled to close August 27, 2021. Terms of the deal between the privately-held organizations were not disclosed. SouthStar Bank plans to continue operations at the Kerrville branch and retain current staff to streamline the transition and maintain continuity for customers and team members. “The Board and Management are eager to welcome Community First employees into our SouthStar Bank family. Trey Bertelson, Vice President/ Retail Banking Operations Officer | SouthStar Bank Loan Administration Building Trey Bertelson is the Retail Banking Operations Officer and a Vice President for SouthStar Bank Operations. He offices out of the SouthStar Bank Loan Administration Building in Leander. Trey joined the team in 2018 as the Leander Branch Operations Manager, bringing with him over ten years of industry experience. Being promoted to his current position, where he leads our retail team, is one of Trey’s most significant career highlights. Trey’s favorite thing about working at SouthStar Bank is getting to work with all of the different branch teams. “Every branch is different, and we have so many great personalities on our teams,” he said. “I feel fortunate to be a leader in such a great organization.” Outside of the bank, Trey serves as the Treasurer for the Cedar Park Library Foundation. The foundation is committed to assisting the library in achieving excellence and developing business/community support. Some of the foundation’s initiatives include Fable Fest and Books for Babies. Trey enjoys spending his free time with his wife and their French Bulldog, Lafayette. Trey’s hobbies include watching soccer and listening to podcasts. An avid traveler, Trey’s favorite place he has visited is Big Bend National Park. The feeling of being so remote and connected with the Earth were some of his favorite moments.
Madison Jalufka, Loan Intern | SouthStar Bank Shiner Madison Jalufka joins the Shiner Branch as a Summer Loan Intern. Madison is a Senior at Texas A&M University, where she is studying Ag Economics. During her internship, Madison is most excited to bring her positive attitude to the team and learn an abundant amount of new information. Madison enjoys staying active in her spare time, spending time with family and friends, and watching football. A secret skill of hers is that she can make great chicken parmesan. Welcome Madison!
Joey Patek, Vice President of Lending | SouthStar Bank Shiner Joseph “Joey” Patek is the Vice President of Lending at the SouthStar Bank Shiner branch. He comes to SouthStar Bank with 20 years of experience as a Superintendent of Schools. During his career in education, Joey created and implemented budgets and secured funding for multiple construction projects. In his new role, he is excited to help his customers achieve their goals and dreams. Outside of the bank, Joey likes to spend time with his family, fishing in Rockport, and listening to music. Lane Jackson, Personal Banking Intern | SouthStar Bank Southwest Austin Lane Jackson joins SouthStar Bank as a Personal Banking Intern at our Southwest Austin location. Lane is currently a student at Abilene Christian University and is pursuing a degree in Business Administration. He is excited to gain industry experience and bring his customer service and problem-solving skills to the operations team. In his free time, Lane enjoys long-distance running, reading, and traveling. He has traveled to multiple states and countries and has a goal of visiting every national park in the United States.
Riley Martine, Commercial Loan Closing Coordinator | SouthStar Bank Southwest Austin Welcome Riley Martine! Riley joins the SouthStar Bank lending department as a Commercial Loan Closing Coordinator. She offices out of the Southwest Austin location. An alum of The University of Texas at Austin, Riley has spent the last three years in banking, starting as a Personal Banker. She is eager to bring her organizational skills and excitement for learning to the SouthStar Bank team. In her free time, Riley enjoys running. She completed the Austin Half Marathon in April 2021.
