Congratulations Faith Shrader! New Branch Manager

Faith Shrader has been promoted to Assistant Vice President and Branch Manager at the SouthStar Bank Southwest Austin branch.

Faith was in her previous personal banker role for 2 years. During this time, she was responsible for opening new accounts, running transactions, and verifying correct information on deposit slips and checks.

In her new position, Faith will be responsible for developing new and existing relationships between the bank and its customers. Faith is very focused on customer service and values her ability to know everyone who enters the branch by name. She is most excited about developing and adapting her leadership skills for the banking industry. As well as having the ability to share the knowledge she has gained over the years with new employees.

In her free time, Faith enjoys reading, going to the beach, and spending time with family and friends.

Employee Spotlight- Tyler Lucas

Tyler M. Lucas is a Vice President of Lending at the SouthStar Bank Southwest Austin. Tyler joined the SouthStar Bank team last year and holds over 10 years of experience in the banking and finance industry. Tyler is a graduate of Texas Tech University and Western Governors University. The one thing he most enjoys about his job is being a trusted financial advisor for his customer’s financial well-being. One of Tyler’s most significate personal accomplishments is being a first-generation college graduate.

Tyler enjoys being active in several professional and community organizations. Currently, he is a member of the Dripping Springs Rotary Club and the Texas Tech Alumni Association.

When he is not at the bank, Tyler loves to spend time with his family, fishing, golfing, working out on his Peloton, and watching the Texas Tech Red Raiders. Fishing enthusiast Tyler once traveled to Montana on a guided fly-fishing trip, and one day hopes to travel to Alaska to fly fish again. 

Welcome 2023 Summer Interns

South Star Bank Moulton

Brayden Slaughter is joining the SouthStar Bank Team at the Moulton branch as a Finance & Accounting Intern. Brayden is excited to bring young eyes to his department and sponge up as much knowledge as possible during his time with the bank. Brayden was an exceptional High School student and recently graduated with all A’s. Along with a sharp mind, Brayden also brings a great attitude and strong work ethic.

Katherine “Kaylee” Vesely joins the SouthStar Bank Steiner Ranch branch as an Operations Intern for the Summer. Kaylee is currently studying Marketing at the University of Oklahoma. During her internship, she is excited to expand upon her marketing education as well as learn more about the Operations side of banking. Kaylee is not only a student at Oklahoma but also an athlete, performing well as a prominent player on the university’s Golf team. Being offered a scholarship to play collegiate golf is one of her most significant achievements. If Kaylee isn’t on the golf course or in the classroom, you can find her reading through a good book or traveling with her friends or family. Her favorite travel destination thus far has been Bali.

Bryce Johnston joins SouthStar Bank this Summer as an intern in the Credit Department. He is located in the Loan Administration Building in Leander. Bryce is a student at St. Edward’s University and is looking forward to graduating in the fall. He has previously held two finance-focused internships and looks forward to bringing his positive attitude and interest in banking to SouthStar Bank. Bryce also enjoys working with others and is ecstatic to learn from his supervisors to develop a deeper understanding of the banking industry. In his free time, Bryce enjoys several activities, including golf, spending time outdoors at Zilker Park, and watching sports. He also enjoys traveling, with his current preferred destination being New Orleans. One of his favorite pass times when traveling is diving into the food culture of the destinations he travels to.

Taylor Mobbs rounds out the Summer interns as a Marketing Intern officing out of the Gonzales branch. Taylor is a junior at Texas A&M University, where she is studying Agricultural Communication and Journalism as well as Agricultural Leadership and Development. Taylor is excited to bring a fresh, young perspective to the Marketing Department, grow SouthStar’s brand name, and effectively reach target audiences. Taylor is a true lover of the outdoors. She enjoys hunting any type of wild game, riding horses, bay and deep-sea fishing, and training bird dogs, specifically German Shorthaired Pointers. A fun fact about Taylor is that she has garnered renown in the Rodeo, pulling in the honors of Miss Texas Junior High Rodeo Princess and Miss Texas High School Rodeo Queen.

Employee Spotlight- Trent Sconiers

Trent Sconiers, Assistant Vice President/Portfolio Manager | SouthStar Bank Southwest Austin

Trent Sconiers is a Portfolio Manager at the SouthStar Bank Southwest Austin location. He worked in banking and finance for five years before joining the SouthStar Bank team two years ago. Trent is an alumnus of Texas A&M University…Whoop! The one thing he enjoys most about his job is helping customers achieve milestones in their lives, including purchasing and building their dream homes. One of Trent’s biggest professional accomplishments was his involvement in producing over $20 million in loans last year.

In his community, Trent is involved with Feeding Texas, more specifically, their Hunters for the Hungry program. The program aims to feed those in need through the donation of deer hunted by local hunters. Trent tries to donate one to two deer a year and enjoys being able to combine his passion for hunting with his desire to give back.  

When he is not working, Trent spends his time listening to live music, golfing, watching college football, hunting, and enjoying the occasional craft beer. An item on his bucket list would be to attend The Masters in Augusta, Georgia. After all, he did share an elevator with Tiger Woods.

Congratulations Amanda Aaron! New SBA Credit Officer

Amanda Aaron has been promoted to the role of SBA Credit Officer at SouthStar Bank. She has 19 years of experience in the banking and finance industry as well as over 10 years of experience handling all facets of SBA Lending.

Amanda specializes in small business lending and commercial real estate lending but has worked in a variety of other banking roles. She has experience in loan production, financing owner-occupied and investment real estate, servicing, and underwriting commercial credits.

In her new position, Amanda will be responsible for originating and underwriting SBA loans, partnering with Loan Officers to assist with their SBA loans, and providing ongoing educational opportunities for both the staff and our community. She is most excited about growing and expanding the knowledge of what SBA lending can do for customers to all branches and markets SouthStar Bank serves, as well as being able to ensure the SBA program is strong and continues to be effective.

Amanda is not only impressive in her work life, but she is also involved with several professional organizations, including a local SBA organization where she serves as the Vice President, CTAGGL, and is a member of CREW Austin.

In her free time, Amanda enjoys watching all types of sporting events, coaching her daughter’s softball team, and spending time with family and friends.
